Affiliate Marketing and Multiple Streams of Income
Being involved in affiliate marketing is a desirable way to make multiple sources of income. It is because affiliate programs come in various shapes and forms. There are a large number of programs that you can sign on with and start making money with immediately. You can make money by promoting and reselling your affiliate products and by recruiting new affiliates.
Either part time or full time, being an affiliate marketer is an excellent way of earning extra money by means of promoting products and services from web merchants. You receive affiliate commissions without investing big dollars in making your own product and without worrying about book keeping, customer support and ecommerce. All you have to do is to promote and resell the products and services by setting up a website, advertising on your site, or through other forms of marketing.
It is advisable to promote more than one merchant on your site so that your visitors will have variety to choose from. Using multiple merchants in the same site or niche means only one thing – you have multiple streams of affiliate income. It is wise to advertise more than one merchant because often one of your merchants will close their program. Many a time I have clicked on one of my own affiliate links to test its destination, especially when sales have dropped, to find it is an invalid link.
However, you should choose only those affiliate programs that interest you so that you can effectively advertise and promote them. Even better I find promoting products I actually own or use, generate more sales, because when asked about it, you can give the right answers. Don’t ever be tempted into signing up for numerous affiliate programs in the hope that one of them will bring income. Select wisely and don’t be engaged in selling products you know nothing about. Go with what interests you – what you would purchase. Your enthusiasm can lead your customer straight to your affiliate link. Write affiliate marketing reviews and give unbiased reports. Point out the good and the bad.
You should also work hard to make your multiple streams of income more stable. You can do this by embracing some strategies and tactics and by developing within yourself, some traits that can help you become successful in any kind of business such as patience, persistence and thirst for knowledge.
In today’s turbulent times, remember not to put your eggs all in one basket, as you don’t know who may be affected. Your merchant may not be coping as well as you thought!

Hi Geoff, your post affirms my beliefs in affiliate marketing but my problem is that I don’t take the time to choose the right affiliates for my blogs. I usually make my selections by quickly browsing through what is on offer and picking the ones that interest me. I know that taking the time selecting the right affiliates would improve sales but time is of the essence and it’s a luxury I can’t afford. I prefer to spend time on my posts.
Having said that, every now and again one pops up that I believe in, like the current theme I am promoting, and it makes promoting it so much more enjoyable.
Sire’s last blog post..Thesis Theme Is Just Not Flexible Enough
Hi Sire, I know exactly what you mean. In Clickbank for example I like to choose a product with a high affiliate gravity. It must still interest me, otherwise I won’t promote it. I do not post to my blogs as often as you, as I spend most of my time promoting. I guess 80% promotion and 20% on websites.
People still have success promoting as you do, because their potential customers have not been bombarded by the same product on every website. BTW your new theme is great. I found reading your posts easier than before.
Thanks again for your time Sire.
No worries mate. I’m glad you like the theme. I’ve been testing it on my other blogs first to make sure it was up to scratch, and when I was satisfied I converted WassupBlog.
I don’t actively promote many affiliates apart from my sidebars and posting a banner at the end of a post every now and again. The only problem with that is when they deactivate one of them and I can’t for the life of me remember where the heck I put it.
